To help students assess the value of the sites
they find, Web expert Kathleen Shrock suggests
using the five ws as a rule of thumb:
• Who created the site? Can the
authors be identified as experts?
• What is the author’s
purpose in creating the site?
• When was the site created or
updated?
• Where does the information
on the site come from?
• Why is the information useful
to the student?
